Southeast Alaska has some of the best fishing anywhere in the world. The inside passage has all five species of salmon and large Halibut, crab, Dolly Varden, and bottom fish such as Red Snapper, Rock Fish, and Cod. What is caught will depend upon the time of the year, weather, and your preference.

Chinook (King) Salmon	May - September

Humpy (Pink) Salmon	July - August
Halibut	May - October
Dolly Varden	May - September

A typical full day charter will include halibut and salmon fishing on the same day. When the weather permits Icy Straights is the prefered location to fish the Halibut. The salmon are travelers and the location will vary during the salmon runs. Charter boats stay in touch with the daily changes and locations. Communication and hot catch trends such as "hoochie colors" are shared knowledge during the season between captains. "You'll hear ..."King..white on white at 40 feet ... Coho... cut plug on top line!!!" It is our goal to provide our clients with the best water adventure possible while on charter in Southeast Alaska. Return clients are important to professional captains.

Captain Marv likes to troll for salmon using a variety of techniques, but hoochies are primary behind a hot spot. Halibut are caught by jigging on a drift or while on anchor. Herring is the bait of choice for both halibut and salmon.
